 General Orientation & Training

Experience is not required to volunteer, however to assist in providing a safe and enjoyable atmosphere new volunteers are required to attend a General Volunteer Orientation and Training Session. The session includes an introduction to the benefits of therapeutic riding, an overview of the program components and services offered, view a video, as well as hands on training to prepare new volunteers as side walkers to riders, and for those with equestrian experience, horse leaders.

Part of the training will take place in the riding arena, indoor and stable area. Please wear sturdy shoes and dress appropriately for an outdoor activity. Volunteering in the riding program does require a moderate level of physical activity. Beverages will be offered.

The minimum age for the Lesson Program Volunteers is 14 years. Volunteer Registration paperwork must be completed. If you are under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must sign your paperwork.
